The Technical Committee 9 of IMEKO (IMEKO TC9) was established in 1976.

The TC9 provides a forum for:

  • the dissemination of calibration methodologies and best practices
  • collaboration between National Metrology Institutes (NMIs), Designated Institutes (DIs), universities and other laboratories with respect to flow measurement
  • discussions on measurement uncertainty, traceability and flow measurement technologies
  • promoting knowledge transfer of key flow measurement developments

Responsible for the IMEKO TC9 website content: Dr. Chris Mills, Glasgow, Scotland, UK (see Members).

TC9 - Flow Measurement - About

IMEKO - TC9 aims to support the development and dissemination of scientific and technological advances in flow measurement by facilitating the exchange of knowledge on current research, technical data, and best practices through technical conferences, member meetings and the publication of scientific papers.

The TC9 fosters collaboration between National Metrology Institutes (NMIs), Designated Institutes (DIs), Universities and other Laboratories in the field of flow measurement. It facilitates knowledge transfer and discussions on key flow measurement developments, including new and improved flow measurement technologies, measurement uncertainty, traceability, calibration methodologies and best practices.

IMEKO TC9 has approximately 50 members from over 30 countries.

The first IMEKO Conference on Flow Measurement - FLOMEKO - took place 1978 in the Netherlands.  FLOMEKO is an international conference with events taking place in:

  • Africa (South Africa)
  • America (Brazil)
  • Asia (China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan)
  • Australia
  • Europe (Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Sweden, UK and Portugal)

The FLOMEKO conference covers a wide variety of topics including:

  • calibration methods
  • measurement uncertainty
  • traceability
  • numerical simulations
  • flow conditioning
  • flow visualisation
  • metering technologies
